We currently have over 550 registered volunteers supporting Willowbrook Hospice’s staff in caring for our patients. We could not offer the vast range of services, facilities and the special care that we do for patients, carers and families without the support of our army of volunteers.
We give full training for all our volunteer roles. Each year we have to make sure that our volunteers undertake mandatory training such as moving and handling, fire training etc.
We have regular meetings to let volunteers know what is happening in the area in which they are working and every quarter we publish a volunteer newsletter to keep all our volunteers in touch with what is happening around the whole Hospice organisation.
Our Family of Volunteers
Our volunteers are a fantastic support – without them, we would not be able to provide the outstanding patient, carer and family support and care that we do.
In the last 12 months, our volunteers have donated over 96,000 hours of support. I am delighted that you are considering joining our award winning team of volunteers and look forward to welcoming you to the hospice.

Chairman of the Trustees
Applicants have to be at least 16 years of age or older to volunteer for Willowbrook. Volunteers aged between 16 and 18 years of age tend to start volunteering in one of our 12 charity shops or our Fundraising department gaining a wide variety of work experience.
In view of the nature of the work in the hospice all the volunteers have to be 18 years of age or older.
There is no upper age restriction in volunteering for Willowbrook. However, it is our duty to make sure that we offer a safe environment and the jobs we ask our volunteers to do are within their capabilities.
