Outpatient Unit

Various Outpatient Clinics are held at the Cedarwood Centre where patients attend for an initial appointment and any follow-up appointments if needed.

At Willowbrook we provide the following Outpatient Clinics:-

• Medical Outpatients
• Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Outpatients
• Complementary Therapy Outpatients

Medical Outpatients

Our Medical Team holds clinics on various days during the week. Patients are referred to our Medical Outpatients department by their Consultants, GP or Community Nurse Specialist when they feel we can make a difference and improve the care a patient receives.

Patients are seen at initial or follow up appointments by our Consultants in Palliative Medicine or one of our team of experienced doctors who review symptoms, monitor their condition, and discuss and plan their care. We actively encourage family and carers to be involved in our patients care so they can help to support their loved ones at home.

After each appointment, our Medical Team liaises  with other professionals who are closely involved in the patient's care e.g. GP’s, other Consultants, Macmillan nurses.

Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Outpatients

Referrals to these services are made via any Health Professional involved in the patient's care.

Referrals for Physiotherapy appointments are generally made to help patients with mobility or breathlessness issues.

Occupational Therapy appointments are provided to assist patients in maintaining independence with their daily living.

Arrangements can be made for the Occupational Therapists to do home visits so they can make appropriate assessments depending on individual circumstances.

Complementary Therapy Outpatients

The Hospice uses supportive therapies which are holistic and may be used exclusively or in conjunction with traditional medical and nursing practices.
Patients are referred to this service via any Health Professional involved in their care. They are referred to the Complementary Therapy outpatients for:-

• Aromatherapy
• Massage
• Reiki 
• Reflexology
• Guided Visionary
• Relaxation

Therapies are tailored to individual needs and can help with:-

• Anxiety Management
• Breathlessness
• Increase well being
