When and how did you get together?
The Willowbrook Hospice Ladies Luncheon Committee was formed over 10 years ago by Enid Oakes to organise the first lunch at Knowsley Hall by kind permission of Lord Derby.
What do you do?
- We organise the annual lunch at Knowsley Hall which is a ladies only event. We have a guest speaker each year and its success continues to grow. In 2007 the Lunch raised £7702 for the Hospice.
- This year we organised a Military Dinner, together with the Lancashire 103rd Regiment Royal Artillary to raise money for both the Hospice and the Army Benevolent Fund. During this event £8864 was raised for Willowbrook.
- Finally, we organised an Afternoon Tea at Houghwood Golf Club which took place in September and raised £1447 for the Hospice.
What have been your highlights?
Everything we have done has been enjoyable and successful so there are many highlights.
What would you say to anyone wanting to volunteer?
Have fun when you are arranging events and everyone will want to join in.
Have you got any future events planned?
- Wednesday 12th March 2008 - Ladies' Lunch, Knowsley Hall
- Saturday 14th June 2008 - Military Dinner, St Helens Town Hall
