When and how did you get together?
It was my idea to start a committee in Eccleston because I lived there and wanted to support the hospice. When I got people from Windle involved I changed the name of the group to Eccleston and Windle. We have been together for 9 years.
The past 9 years have been eventful but full of enjoyable times. We have organised many different things including concerts and Jazz events which have all been very successful. A couple of my highlights are 'Jazz on the Weaver' and 'Jazz at the Colliery'. Both events were a pleasure to be a part of and it is very rewarding watching people having a great time at an event you have organised.
As well as putting on our own events we help out at events organised by the Hospice. Over the years we have been involved in house to house collections, Christmas Fayres, fetes and galas, garden parties and much more.
What would you say to anyone wanting to volunteer?
As long as you have the time to put into it you get a lot of pleasure knowing you are helping to support the Hospice.
Have you got any future events planned?
We are planning a concert called the Rhythm of Life involving the Liverpool Philharmonic Gospel Choir. Date and venue to be confirmed in the near future.
