What a night! What a sight! 500 women, dressed in florescent pink, all walking together to support Willowbrook Hospice. Anyone driving down Prescot Road on Saturday 23rd June would have done a double take.
Over £55,000 was pledged on the night making the Moonlight Walk the Hospices most successful event ever.
Willowbrook Hospice would like to send a massive thank you to everyone who took part or supported the Walk. Everyone had a fantastic night (despite the weather) and in answer to requests asking if there will be another Moonlight Walk next year. The answer is "YES".
Chris Jones who took part in the event said: "It was a magical night, even quite emotional, I was so pleased to be a part of such a great night and the money raised is unbelievable. There was such a friendly atmosphere, we were cheered on along the way by honking horns and people hanging out of their bedroom windows shouting encouragement, which was great. We were all a bit wet but it didn't matter. I am definitely looking forward to next year."
Willowbrook Hospice would like to thank staff and volunteers who kindly donated their time to helping out on the night and to all the local organisations who supported the Moonlight Walk: Pilkington, St Helens Star, St Helens Council, Merseyside Police, Helena Housing, Sainsbury's Distribution Centre, QVC, Boots, Tesco, Sutton Leisure Centre, Executive Fitness Clinics, Jan Williams School of Dance, Hands On Health Care, St John Ambulance and Raynet.
Diane Humphreys, from the Hospice Fundraising team said: "After months of planning it was nice to see the event come to life. The atmosphere was quite surreal which wasn't dampened by the rain. Watching everyone laugh and cheer even dance made the whole thing worthwhile. The amount pledged is fantastic and I can't wait to see the final total."
