Hospice Care Week (5-11 October) - #connectingcare

As part of Hospice Care Week we're highlighting the contribution of people who connect to Willowbrook - whether it be patients, families, volunteers, staff or our supporters.

Chris Tigwell

Chris Tigwell’s connection with Willowbrook spans over 20 years.

As an electrical engineer, Chris was involved in the initial building of the hospice back in 1996.

After the hospice opened, Chris continued his connection with Willowbrook, becoming a volunteer with the fundraising team. As well supporting street and supermarket collections for the hospice, keen gardener Chris supplies and sells plants at Willowbrook Garden parties and other events.

On a more personal level, Chris’s father became a day therapy patient at Willowbrook in 2002 after he sadly developed prostate cancer.

Speaking of his connection to Willowbrook Chris said: “Right from the beginning I thought, that as well as being a good cause, Willowbrook was a local facility for local people”
